Our Mission

Our ultimate goal is to end the AMR burdens in the environment.

Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) is currently the leading cause of deaths worldwide. By 2050, AMR estimated to cause 4.7 millions of annual deaths in Asian countries alone, accounting for nearly half of the 10 millions of global deaths attributed to AMR burdens. In the Asia-Pacific region, many countries are not only vulnerable to AMR , but are also considered hotspots for the emergence of AMR, which has the potential to spread globally.  The environmental dimensions of AMR is a key domain in tackling AMR within the framework of ‘One Health’, which is an integrated approach aiming to optimize the health of people, animals, and the environment due to their complex interrelationships, causality, and dynamics.

The mission of EnD-AMR-Asia is to provide academic knowledge and opinions to mitigate the environmental impacts of AMR, particularly within Asia-Pacific context. This includes addressing factors such as vulnerability, limited resources and infrastructure challenges, cultural and social behaviors, etc. We believe this knowledge and opinions are essential and beneficial not only to countries in the Asia-Pacific region but also to the global community by supporting effective international decision-making and actions.
